Daily Itinerary Items

Day 1 : Ireland Bound

We board our overnight flight to Dublin. Dinner and a light breakfast are served on board.

Day 2 : Dublin

Upon arrival in Dublin, we meet our Irish Driver/Guide. Though a major port and bustling business and government center Dublin has inviting parks and retains many historical landmarks. Marvel at the beautiful Georgian-style buildings, the colorful doorways and wrought iron detailing. On a guided tour of the city, we’ll visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral, rebuilt after a fire in the fourteenth century. Our accommodations tonight are in the Dublin area at Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa. D

Day 3 : Clonmacnoise

We begin each day with a delicious Irish breakfast. Today we leave Dublin and travel west to visit Clonmacnoise, St. Ciaran’s monastery founded in 545. Situated on the banks of the tranquil River Shannon, the site contains a round tower and the remains of nine churches. Experience true Irish hospitality at Connolly’s Rathbaun Farm. Enjoy a glimpse into the daily workings of an active sheep farm and taste the best home baked scones and pot of Irish tea you’re likely to have anywhere; all served in Frances and Fintan’s charming thatched cottage home. This evening our lodging is at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Galway. B,D

Day 4 : Connemara & Kylemore Abbey

Our first stop is the Connemara Celtic Crystal Factory where Celtic motifs are expertly cut into colored crystal. Today we travel through Ireland’s Connemara region, which is known for its spectacular mountain and coastal scenery along with its gleaming rivers and lakes. Later we see magnificent Kylemore Abbey and gardens, home to the Benedictine Community of Nuns since World War I. We’ll enjoy a stroll through the colorful Victorian Walled Garden, the Abbey’s ornate reception rooms and the beautiful Neo-Gothic Church. Later, we drive through charming villages and along the rugged coast of Galway Bay. We return to Galway for another pleasant evening. B

Day 5 : Cliffs of Moher & Bunratty Castle

After breakfast we enjoy a scenic drive through the ruggedly beautiful Burren in County Clare. The Burren is a vast area comprised of limestone eroded into moonscape patterns called karren. Next, we visit the Cliffs of Moher. These cliffs provide a dramatic panorama plunging 700 feet to the sea and extending five miles. Later, we explore Ireland’s heritage at Bunratty, a folk park constructed to provide an example of life in nineteenth century Ireland. Tonight we enjoy a medieval banquet in Bunratty Castle. Join the Butler and the Ladies of the Castle for an unforgettable evening of merriment. Tonight’s accommodations are in Limerick at the Savoy Hotel. B,D

Day 6 : Killarney

We visit Adare, one of Ireland’s most picturesque villages and home to ornate thatched cottages, beautiful stone buildings and Irish shops. We travel to Killarney for an included ride aboard one of Ireland’s jaunting carts, a truly unique way to experience the Irish countryside. Our accommodations for two wonderful evenings are at the Killarney Plaza Hotel and Spa. Enjoy an evening of traditional Irish folk music and dancing at Kate Kearney’s Cottage. This 150 year old family-run establishment is nestled at the entrance to the world famous Gap of Dunloe. B,D

Day 7 : Ring of Kerry

Today we follow the much-loved Ring of Kerry, one of Ireland’s most scenic drives. Our spectacular, 100 mile journey includes views of rolling hills, rugged mountains, island jewel lakes, green glens, breathtaking seascapes and quaint Irish villages. We return to the Killarney Plaza Hotel and Spa for another pleasant evening. B

Day 8 : Blarney Stone & Rock of Cashel

This morning we’re off to Blarney, the site of Blarney Castle. Legend promises the “gift of gab” to those who kiss the Blarney Stone. Nearby shops have some of the largest collections of Waterford Crystal and Belleek China in Ireland. We’ll also visit the Rock of Cashel. The grounds here were first used as an assembly place for kings and in later years, the church. We enjoy dinner and lodging at the Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny. B,D

Day 9 : Kilkenny Castle

We tour the thirteenth century Kilkenny Castle, situated on the banks of the River Nore. An afternoon of leisure allows time to enjoy a pub lunch, visit the Kilkenny Design Centre or stroll the narrow winding streets of Ireland’s medieval city. Tonight we stay near Dublin at the Dunboyne Castle Hotel and Spa. Our Tour Director hosts a special farewell dinner. B,D
